Aging Referral Agencies

USAging

Mission: Represents and supports the national network of Area Agencies on Aging; advocates so older adults and people with disabilities can age with dignity, independence, and well-being.

What they offer:

  • Supports local AAAs

  • Advocates policy

  • Provides technical assistance

  • Promotes home- and community-based services (meals, caregiver supports, ombudsman programs, etc.).

Administration on Aging (AoA) / Older Americans Act Programs

Mission: To promote the well-being of older individuals by providing services and programs that help them live independently in their homes and communities.

What they offer:

  • Distributes federal funds to states, territories, and tribal organizations for supportive services (nutrition, caregiver support, ombudsman, legal assistance, elder justice).

National Council on Aging (NCOA)

Mission: Deliver resources, tools, best practices, and advocacy so every person can age with health and financial security.

What they offer:

  • Provides policy advocacy, educational resources, technical assistance to community organizations, research, “BenefitsCheckUp” tool, chronic disease prevention programs

Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (AFA)

Mission: Provide support, services, and education to individuals, families, and caregivers affected by Alzheimer’s disease nationwide; fund research.

National Asian Pacific Center on Aging (NAPCA)

Mission: Assist and advocate for older Asian American & Pacific Islander (AAPI) seniors, especially addressing cultural/language needs.

What they offer:

  • Multilingual helpline

  • employment programs (SCSEP, environmental employment)

  • benefits assistance (Medicare, Medicaid)

  • outreach in AAPI communities

ADvancing States

Mission: Design, improve, sustain state systems delivering long-term services and supports (LTSS) for older adults, people with disabilities, and caregivers.

What they offer:

  • Advocate for state-level policy

  • facilitate sharing of innovation among states

  • technical assistance for state aging/disability agencies

American Society on Aging (ASA)

Mission: Convene and support professionals in aging; be a hub for education, research, and advocacy in the aging field.

What they offer:

  • Provide training, conferences, networking, resources on ageism, policy, organizational capacity.

American Geriatrics Society (AGS)

Mission: Improve the health, independence, and quality of life of older people by supporting geriatrics professionals and advancing evidence-based care

What they offer:

  • Clinical guidelines, education for health professionals, advocacy in geriatric care, research dissemination.

National Institute on Aging (NIA)

Mission: Support and conduct research on aging, and on diseases and conditions associated with growing older.

What they offer:

  • Grants for biomedical & social research, publish findings, data tools, training, age-related disease studies.
